Red Duiker

[Red Duiker at Samburu] The Red Duiker is another member of the cat-food . . . I mean antelope . . . family. The ones we saw were . . . red. "Duiker" comes from the Dutch word for "diver." When confronted with danger the duiker dives into the bushes in order to escape. Maybe they should have been named after the Dutch word for "dinner" instead?

Duikers come in a number of varieties but tend to be very shy. We only saw them at a couple of parks and then only rarely. So much so that I only have four pictures of them. The one above is from Samburu, the ones below are from The Ark.
