Spotted Hyena

[Hyena at Sweetwaters] The Hyena is quite the gruff, raggedy looking character. Although, as you can see from the picture to the left, they are pretty tough too. They work in packs and often occupy deserted termite mounds. They are generally scavengers, although they are not above killing in the same way that a politician is not above lying. Because their front and rear legs are different lengths they have an odd gait. I feel comfortable saying this now that I am several thousand miles away. Not that I would be afraid to insult a hyena to its face . . . oh wait, yeah that is what I would be afraid to do.

Hyenas have powerful jaws that can break open or devour bones. They are often found picking over the remains of a lion kill. After they are done with it the jackels and vultures take over.
