In February 1998, Ofni and I headed to Curaçao for the total solar eclipse. I headed down a couple of days early and went to Bonaire. American has one flight a day into Curaçao, arriving around 4:00 p.m. The eclipse was to occur at 1:30, so the last flight, which Ofni was on, was to arrive the day before. American overbooked the flight, and no one wanted to get off. So they were offering $4000 per seat in travel vouchers to anyone who would take a later flight.
