Black Rhino

[Black Rhino . . . at night] Black Rhinos are smaller than White Rhinos. They are also browsers - eating bushes and trees - as opposed to white rhinos which are grazers - they eat grass. Blacks also tend to be solitary, while whites are more social. Rhinos have excellent hearing and smell but are nearsighted. Despite their size they tend to be skittish...possibly because 80% of their population was poached in the 70's and 80's?

Despite their size they can move pretty fast. They are also much more squat and compact than elephants. They look more like battleships than anything else. My only pictures of black rhinos were at night and, like the picture at right, are difficult to see.
